My interest in glass has developed over many years and I have attended several courses, including City & Guilds. These courses included stained glass, glass painting, warm glass and hot glass work, allowing me to explore approaches and to extend the range of my work. Recently I have began exploring multilayer fusing with glass powders to create detailed painterly images Since moving to Suffolk David joined the Suffolk Open Studios (SOS) scheme - which encourages and promotes budding new artists in the County. SOS hold a yearly showcase exhibition, where members agree to exhibit. This year David successfully exhibited, with over 180 Artists, at Rougham Barn, near Bury St.Edmunds from 20th May 2007. SOS members also agree to open their studio to the public for a weekend in June. In 2007 David was pleased to welcome 54 visitors interested in glass work. I believe that opportunities to use decorative glass today are excellent. Decorative glass is very versatile allowing for a splash of colour in many forms, to accent any room in a way that no other medium can provide. |
